Autograph signing at HKCC

How are you, my friends?

It was a good day even though I was still not well enough to sing, but still excited and happy to have a chance to share the CD with 300 people in the audience. The event was held at the HK Convention Center where the audiophile fair was on and I was the special guest to introduce my new CD. We all had the opportunity to listen to the CD on very expensive speakers, even though it was in a theater, it sounded great!
Songs played: Hello, It Must Have Been Love, and then I tried to sing, Rainy Days and Mondays and it was ok.... croaky at times, but I was still happy singing. =) I was interviewed by Giovanni and shared the history of making the CD. How Michael and I met, how he picked the songs, and so naturally made the effort to work together on this album.
And for the last song, we listened to Memory. Then it was autograph signing time! =)

The audience was great and I think I may have signed over 200 copies.

I was also told that over 2000 CDs are sold and another 2000 on their way to the stores!! =)

So glad Andreas, Alexias, Serena, Flora, Keiffany, Adee, Clement, Nancy & Regina, Nicole Tong and Family, Douglas & friend, Marlene & Faith and my Dad came too.
Thanks to Fung Hang, Andy & Mimi and their team for organizing the event.

I really love my album..... thank you, Andreas and I love you!

p.s. cloud photo was taken in Terrigal, Central Coast near Sydney in Sept. last year...

Pam, my Sister Ant

Today I am sharing an email I sent to my dear friend, Pam, in Canada:

Believe it or not, I was thinking of you the other day, during camp.....yes, we are still running our Summer Music Camps..... just wondering what you were doing and how you were.... so happy to hear from you and what great timing, too. August 5th is our 15th wedding anniversary AND the release date of my new English album!

First of all, it's great to hear you are working with passionate artists!
Congratulations!
I want to hear more about your show.

I only just figured out and told Andreas a couple days ago, that only after 40 years in this business, with all the performances and experiences, that finally, I am satisfied and happy with my new album! Isn't that crazy?
The design and colours are great, the songs are great, just little things added up and you know, it's the people around me, that have inspired me, the right people!

For the past 12 years of teaching and performing, my family, my students, my friends, with living in Missouri, Canada and returning to HK, has been an amazing journey for me.
The influences from living there and teaching the kids, my girls, meeting new friends and getting to know them, is much more precious than just being on stage.
Even though the stage is the icing on top of the cake, everything else before that moment, makes the performance so perfect!
Of course, without the support of Andreas, his neverending patience, his strong will, his persistence, his love, his great food! All this couldn't have been possible. I do believe God is on my side and I am so thankful. =)

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony." ~~ Mahatma Gandhi

"Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God." ~~ Leo Buscaglia

This is exactly what we both do!!!!

How I miss you, Pam, your talent, your love and most of all your passion!!! =)

One day, a couple months ago, I gave the True Love Concert DVD to my nail artist and while having my nails done, they put in the DVD and I got to watch the show. And you know, it is a great show and made me miss our working together! You looked so gorgeous and so angelic in that BLUE cloak!! You made that look so good! =) What great times!

Yes, this little Ant on this side of the world is still working hard, climbing up that mountain and hopefully will get to meet you, my Sister Ant and have some time to reminisce, or work on a project together to get us going up higher!

Summer camps this year is going very well! Adee has worked hard the past year to bring more students in, through helping me write my column (in Chinese, of course) in a free paper, Take Me Home, getting our bus ads out, pushing Alexias and Andreas in getting the ads done =) Actually Adee is our supervisor!!! He pushes me too, in getting my music tracks done, but of course, with all the other little things that are happening at the same time, my music is the last thing on my mind...
But, with God's Grace, and my willingness to wait, it is all happening now.
Yes, during camps, I am in my room, making my music and so excited to have it released soon.

I have been performing here and there but not as much as I want to, so teaching is now really taking up most of our time.

Alexias and Serena are a great team! Gosh, can you believe it? Already 16 & 13! Aunty Flora and Keiffany both came to help and participate in the camps and doing great! Keiffany is already 11 and having a great time working and learning alongside her sisters! Flora helps with the yoga and student supervisor, and also became a first time lyricist! =)

Flora helped with our new song 'I Like My Brain' but I had to use a different melody, and the kids loved the songs!! I'm so thrilled!! =)
The Chinese version is called 'Adorable Me' =) Flora translates the English version and adds more of what the body parts do and I try to put those words into a melody. Adee and Clement helped alot too as they can tell which notes would make the words sound better. You know, the Chinese words are turned into foul words when sung in a different tone!!!! so we had to make sure!! =)

I had taught a class a month ago to the little ones on Saturdays, 3 -6 years old, and I asked them which part of their bodies did they like the most and the first girl offered a 'I LIKE MY BRAIN'!!!! She is 5 years old and the next girl, yelled ' I Like My Smelly FEET!!!!' She's 4. I gently told the little girl that I will try to think how I can incorporate smelly feet into the song..... and all the other kids chose the usual, I like my hair, my eyes, my ears..etc....Those kids are so cute!
So I wrote the first part of the song and TV (yes, she was here for 6 weeks June/July) helped me finish the song in 20 minutes!!!! TV also wrote it in Spanish, AND did another version in Spanish with a Salsa beat and dance too!!!! WOW!! I had promised to get the video uploaded and will do when the kids have their Summer Music performance Aug 19th at the Shatin Town theater, the smaller theater which seats 300.

I am staying home again today due to my bronchitis.. I couldn't believe it! I have not had bronchitis in maybe 10 years?? And I have a performance promoting my new CD TOMORROW!!! hahaha.... So I am resting at home, and diligently drinking my lemony drink which Andreas bought for me last night. I am getting better and need to sleep more.....

Andreas and the girls went off to the studio and today they will be revising the songs the kids have learned in the past 4 days, practicing their exit and entrances and finishing off their photo frames. The kids in each camp gets a photo frame, we have red, yellow, blue, green, white and sometimes black, photo frames which they decorate on their own. We provide all the materials, like little puffy balls, the folded stars, stickers, markers, feathers, etc... and a group photo is taken either on the second or third day of camp and given to the kids to put into their frames.
After each camp, which lasts for 5 days, the kids get to perform on the 6th day (Saturday) for their families. All the students get to perform together on the same songs and the little ones perform their songs which they know while the afternoon class would sit and watch. But sometimes everyone decides to join in, =) The Entertainers would perform their songs and finally, the TCI kids will perform the Salsa version of 'I Like My Brain' - Me Gusta Mi Cerebro!
The little ones - the Little Musical Stars - starts camp at 10am until noon. The afternoon camp -The Entertainers, start from 1pm -6pm.

The TCI kids, Anson, Audrey, Kelly and Vanessa, Nancy (from Vancouver, 2nd year at TCI camp and Regina, also from Vancouver, help to teach and work on other songs with me or Adee and Clement. Blossom left near the end of Nov 2008 to study in Australia but came back for one week of camp this year. We were so happy to see her again!

This is our 4th week of camps and there are kids who join the whole 4 weeks or first and last week, or just one week. We do have one more week for a performance camp, open only to kids who have joined any of our camps and personally invited by me, but not guaranteed to perform on Aug 19th. =)

Adee has a new buddy working with him. Clement Lee. He is one of my very first student from Toronto back in 1998 and he's great! Clement also teaches singing, translates my songs into ping yin in almost no time, and sings very well, too!! Last year he was our main guy performing with Liat, my God Daughter, also from Toronto. Liat & Clement, they should record together=)

Love you and miss you! Thinking of you when the kids are singing and dancing! your sister Ant Teresa =)

The wait is worth it! Even after 36 years, that is.... Thank you, God

Yes, after 36 years since my first English album was released in HK, my very first USA recorded CD has finally arrived!
And, it's the best! I love it! Looks AND sounds GREAT!!!

Hallelujah and Praise God!
Of course, I do believe all of this was planned and nothing is coincidence. =)

Meeting Michael T., working with him, my trips to LA for recording, TV being there to help with Ooh Child, an original song by Reeve Carney 'Think of You", singing 'You're still the One', which I would NEVER have dreamed of singing, but the song described how people used to think about us, Andreas and I.
Yes, honey, we made it!

And.... Hello.
The song I used to sing when I was working in the clubs, and had always wanted to record it and now, I have, thanks to Michael.
Michael's arrangement is so good, so perfect for me, the way his guitar sang and cried, wow!
Did you know MT also played for Mr. Richie?

I am at lost for words, I want to sing more! =)

I thank my Dad, for his love, his adoration, his neverending support, in making sure I sounded good, always there to remind me of my responsibility in doing my best, no matter what!

Somewhere... Andreas' favorite. =)
Memory.... one of my favorite songs, but never could bring myself to record as it's such a classic and so hard to make the song my own. With MT's guidance and direction, I am proud to say this version is mine =)

Even after taking 18 months from beginning to the last recording, the songs still feel as if I had just recorded them yesterday, so new, so exciting, YEAH!!

It Must Have Been Love: MT's guitar soars!!! California and blue skies!

Dave Rideau: You are amazing!
Your work on all the mixes are fantastic and I am so grateful for your friendship and talent!
Thank you!!!

My darling Daughter,TV. What a gift she has, creating and making "Ooh Child" sound like it's ours! Honestly, it was the hardest song for me to sing, believe it or not. =)

Much love to my three beautiful girls, TV, Alexias & Serena. Thank you for loving me and making me so proud to be your Mother!! =)

Finally, my heart, my love, my soulmate - You're Still The One, Andreas!

Happy Anniversary, Darling. and Thank you for the Special Gift, my new CD!
It's so beautiful! I LOVE it!!!

Happy Anniversary, Darling!

Even though it's our 15th wedding anniversary today, Andreas darling, and because it's Typhoon no. 8, we may have to spend our anniversary at home..... I just want to let you know, how thankful and grateful I am for the CD design you did for my new album. For putting the whole project together, for getting the CD its release and promotion. It's the best gift ever, honey! =)
Love you, my Dearest, for your love and for always being there for me and our girls! Thank you for the happiness you've given me, for marrying me, for loving me no matter what and for being the best Father to our girls!

Happy Anniversary, Darling!

Another rainy day, another typhoon no. 8.

Yesterday was the 2nd day of Week 4 for our Summer Music Camp. Alexias wasn't feeling good, but still came in with Serena & Keiffany. I wasn't feeling well either and managed to rest up a couple of hours before finishing off the music for 'I Like Colours/Colors'. Happy about that.

Aunty Flora and Adee Gor Gor taught the morning class, and it seemed the kids had a great time. The little Musical Stars revised on the songs and worked on their picture frames, for their group photo which would be taken today. Always great when a child gives you a hug for no reason, like little Eily. Thank you for your love! =)

Clement taught Nancy and Regina a new Mandarin song, while Alexias helped with the Summer is Fun choreography, and teaching the song, Asereje! =) Another favorite for the kids. TV choreographed and taught this song 4 summers ago! I have to post the video soon as with other videos, hahaha... ! Thank you, Clement, Alexias, Serena, Aunty Flora. Adee Gor Gor & TV, for making all these kid so happy, learning music! =)

So excited to speak to Michael Thompson today, on the phone, as it's been awhile since we last spoke. What a thrill and a joy to know our CD is finally being released! Hallelujah!!

Wishing everyone the joy in music....

Weekend in Macau at the new Lan Kwai Fong Hotel

August 1st 2009 - After our TCI Summer Music Camp performance at the studio, Andreas, Adee, Clement, Aunty Flora, Alexias, Serena, Keiffany and I prepared for our weekend trip to Macau, to attend the opening of Lan Kwai Fong Macau Hotel. It was in a way, a short holiday and a little work for me. =)
By the time we arrived at the hotel, we were a little hungry and tired but anxiously waiting for our dinner at the Brazilian restuarant, Fogosamba, at the Venetian. Our reservation was for 6:30pm, so Andreas and I went to get our hair done and to meet the gang at the restuarant later.
Dinner was just a bit rushed, and most of us became quite full just a little too fast, even though it was good =)

Managed to walk out of the restuarant without feeling ill, and got back to the hotel to watch some TV and rest up. =)

August 2nd 2009 Sunday

I can't believe we were without the internet all weekend long and actually wasn't too bad. I could have written some, but just with the impending work and having to perform just with Joey and the one man Band -Ben, was just a bit of concern..... =) yes, I wished I had stuck to my guns in bringing the whole band, but sometimes, things don't turn out the way you want it to.

The whole performance still went very well, and everyone had a great time. =) So I am happy about that. So thankful, too, for Flora's lovely, bright, TC's LV- like blouse/top, which was a lifesaver!!! I was 'told' it was very casual, 'everyone' who wants to sing can just get up on stage and Ben, the one man band/Ben, can accompany them..... but I am sooooo glad I insisted on bringing Joey! =) He was great, of course!

Adee, Clement, Flora, Alexias, Serena & Keiffany left around 9:45pm, just as I started to sing, to catch the 10:30 pm ferry back to HK, as they have camp the next morning.

Andreas and I managed to hang around and felt like groupies, (especially me), having photos taken with all the celebrities...... =)

Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and it was good all in all.

August 3rd 2009

Our Summer Music Camp started its 4th week and we see some more new and old faces! I managed to work a little on 'I Like Colors' and it's sounding good..... =) The kids did great and revised on some old songs.

Oh yes, Andreas received two more mixed Kids songs today from Dave R. and 'Twinkle Little Star' and 'Three Blind Mice' sounds absolute wonderful!!! Spoke to Dave and I was so touched and honored he liked my arrangements and the girls' singing plus my first kids' composition of 'The ABC Song'! YEAH!!!
