Thankful! for my BRAIN!

Today is another good day! =) How was yours?

Spent the morning working on cleaning up the vocals for B-I-N-G-O which were recorded last week, but I didn't get to finish it as I wasn't feeling well all week..... So it was good I managed to get it done today. Did I mention I had been trying to release a TCI kids CD for 4 years???
Well, I think this is the year which the first CD will be released!
Alexias and Serena's voices have matured abit but still sounding cute and fun! Gosh, listening to my very first composition of ABC, their voices really sounded so young and so sweet! I am glad our sound engineer, Dave, LOVES...... our 'Three Blind Mice!!! =) We've sent three songs to be mixed. ABC is done, next will be TBM and the third one is Twinkle Little Star! Did you know originally it has 7 verses? Well, it's not that long and Alexias did a great job singing it, 4 years ago!
The past few years I had been teaching and rearranging the music for some older classic pop songs, like Everyday People, Happy Together, a couple of Canton pop songs, like, I Really Love You, A Thousand Suns, which needs to be redone and vocals added. I still liked the arrangements for the English songs, but the Chinese ones need some more work.
In the meantime, I do have 3 new songs which were written just the past 2 months and I am so excited to work on the music! I Like Colours, Adorable Me and I Like My Brain!

I LIKE MY BRAIN!
One day during the younger kids' class, I asked the kids which part of their bodies do they like the most and the first kid quickly said 'I Like My Brain!' and another kid followed with ' I Like My Smelly Feet!' Of course I said it's hard to think as quick as they can, on how to incorporate 'smelly feet ' into a song..... mmm....

So, right there and then, I started to play the notes to 'I Like My Brain!'
I LIKE MY BRAIN, I LIKE MY BRAIN
I LIKE MY HAIR , I LIKE MY EYES
I LIKE MY HANDS, I LIKE MY HANDS
I LIKE MY MOUTH, I LIKE MY EARS!

The kids loved it!! I went back and asked TV, my oldest daughter, who was visiting last month, to help me finish off the song, with notes which Serena wrote down from the kids on what they said during class!!! =) So much fun!!
When we got back home, TV said it was so easy, she wrote the song in 20 minutes!!!

continued from above, by TV:
EVERY FINGER EVERY TOE
EVERY TOOTH, AND YES, MY NOSE
BUT ONLY MY MOMMY LOVES MY SMELLY FEET!! =)

I LIKE MY BRAIN I LIKE MY BRAIN
I LIKE MY CHEEKS I LIKE MY TUMMY
I LIKE MY KNEES I LIKE MY KNEES
I LIKE MY ELBOW I LIKE MY CHIN
BUT MOST OF ALL I LOVE MY MOMMY AND DADDY
AND THEY LOVE ME AND MY HEART
BUT MOST OF ALL I LOVE MY MOMMY AND DADDY
AND THEY LOVE ME FOR MY HEART!

Thanks to my lovely TV, not just for this song, but for the Spanish version to the same melody AND another Spanish version with a choreographed DANCE!!!! YEAH!! Will post the video of their rehearsal and the lyrics to the Spanish version soon!!! TV is a genius!!! =) And also much love to my little TCI kids for their inspiration! This song is for you all.

So thankful!
I remembered someone told me a long time ago..... when you are looking for answers, you don't have to look very far, as it's really so close that sometimes you don't realize it's right in front of you! ^ ^

Have a lovely day and keep smiling! =) Someone out there loves you!

A Better Tomorrow

Even though I had gone out to town with the family, I wasn't feeling too good today so I returned home on the train today, Andreas taking me back....so that was nice,

But then, the kids at camp were learning 'A Better Tomorrow', a popular Mandarin song from the 80's and I thought I would try to do the music track on my Logic and ended up on the computer for 5 hours!!!! my eyes are kind of blurry now... but the music is almost done even though I used a midi file from Adee, which had so many wrong notes!!!! That's why it took so long.... anyways, the music is sounding abit more updated =) so I am happy.

Yeah, Alexias and Serena were quite happy when they got home as their day with the kids turned out pretty good! Especially the workout!!!
It was so funny when the girls told me they could go on and on and on with the jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, etc....without feeling tired, BECAUSE, quote ' Mom used to work out THREE times a day and TV used to work out everyday, so that's why we feel we can go on and on!!!!'
So cute, my beautiful girls!
Alexias and Serena are still so young and innocent. ha ha ha ha ha ha.....

So glad, Alexias, Serena and Keiffany finished 'The Muffin Man' & the 'Bingo, AEIOU song'
I still have a few more songs to do for the next two weeks of camp! So excited for the kids' CD to finish! YEAH!

Have a great day!! Love & Music always!

Sharing Good News!

Hello, dear friends!

Yes, I have good news!

My new, long-awaited, exciting, amazing, beautiful, precious, wonderful, fantastic, special, first ever recorded and mixed in the USA studio album, is finally being released on August 3rd 2009!!!! Yeah!! Thanks to Michael Thompson, yes, THE Michael Thompson, for arranging, for choosing the songs, for being my vocal producer, for introducing his friend, Dave Rideau, to mix the songs and for being there to make it all happen!
Of course, thanks to my dearest husband, Andreas, for getting the CD released. We waited almost 2 years and now, it's here. I am so excited and so happy! Thank you, GOD! =)

Andreas also posted the ads on facebook, and it looks great! =)

Today at camp, our TCI team and the kids all did great.

The morning class had started to learn our new song ' I Like My Brain', both in English and Spanish and the TCI kids performed the dance version of it and the kids loved it! They revised on Summer is FUN!, I Like to Teach, and the kids song, ABC.
In the afternoon, the class all started to decorate their picture frame to get ready for our photo shoot tomorrow. We usually have group photos taken and to give them to the students as a souvenir from the camp, plus the decorated photo frame.
Alexias made some changes to the Summer is FUN! dance and it really looked and sounded great!

Alexias, Serena and Keiffany also finished recording the two songs "The Muffin Man" &
B-I-N-G-O (AEIOU Song) after class. The girls were so cute and funny! Alexias and Serena had to control their laughter, which was easier said than done, and some of it was recorded too! =)

Looking forward to tomorrow's classes and wishing everyone much love and God's Blessings!

Great DAY! at TCI Summer Camp 3rd week

To say it is a great day is an understatement =)

I am thankful to be teaching kids and to have such loving and caring friends and family all around, to help kids find their voice, whether in music or in their daily lives. To have the courage to speak up and express themselves, and to communicate without fear.
Today, my thought of bringing a happy and positive energy to the kids, I suggested Serena's favourite song, Happiness, from You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. When they were younger, Alexias had to take away the song from Serena as she was playing it so much, over and over again! =)
Even though we had never taught this song before, the universal message in the lyrics, the spirit of the innocence of Charlie Brown, the positive sounds of the melody, creates an instant connection with the kids and thus, makes learning the song so much easier and faster! Yes, it sounds great too!

This week is our 3rd week of our Summer Camp and we see a few more new students join up plus some of our regular Saturday classes students. =)

Aunty Flora began the classes with an half hour of beginners yoga and Alexias presented our new Summer camp theme song 'Summer is Fun' with the class.

SUMMER IS FUN!
Summer is here Summer is FUN
Summer is Love for Everyone! repeat 2 x

When the music starts to play
We all want to sing right away
Dance to the rhythm of the beat
Come On Everybody Move your feet!

Keeping it together Loving it forever
We can all have fun, under the sun!
Keeping it together Loving it forever
We can all have fun, cos You're the one!

The song was written three weeks ago by Alexias, Serena and TV, while I arranged the song and managed to get it ready for Camp! Hopefully before the end of Summer camp. I can get the kids to record the song. =)

Will be back later! Happy thoughts everyone!

My favorite hobby - taking photos of the clouds in the sky in a moving car...... This was taken July 25 Saturday morning from Taipo.
